How the Grooming Shed came to be:

I moved to Asheville in 2015 and was grooming at Waggers Dog Depot until 2019. After grooming in shops for 10 years, I felt the need for a change of direction in my life. Once I left Waggers I was inspired to get out and section hike on the Appalachian Trail, which is where I found the motivation to start up a business of my own when I returned.

The large shed in my backyard that had just been sitting there for years was the perfect place! My husband and I renovated it and made my own personal grooming space! My goal is to follow my passion for grooming dogs in a comfortable space where your dog wont feel overwhelmed with driving up to what might be a 'loud' and 'scary' grooming shop.

The Shed 'n Dog will provide a calming, enjoyable experience for your fur baby where he/she will be pampered with love and get the best treatment that your pet needs.

Amanda's Story

I found grooming in 2009 while looking for a new job when I came across the dog boarding/daycare/grooming shop at Bark Avenue in New Jersey, where I took my own dog for services. I ended up taking the job (because what could be better than working with dogs?) and that is where it all started. Helping with dog boarding then led to the curiosity of grooming. I fell in love with it all and I groomed for years until 2015 when I followed my heart to the mountains in Asheville, NC . Since then, I have been able to spend most of my time in the outdoors hiking and followed my yoga career as well where I got licensed at Asheville Community Yoga to teach yoga classes. When I am not grooming, you can find me hiking up a mountain with my dogs, enjoying the outdoors, or taking/teaching a yoga class.
